Illegal immigration in the United States is a complex and difficult problem that is once again an issue in the 2012 presidential election. This issue has shown a contrast between the republican candidates in the way the issue needs to be resolved. The rule of law is of tantamount importance in America. As a result, most Americans feel strongly that those in this country illegally should be "sent home." Some estimates have that number at 10 or 11 million people. Let's put that number in perspective: If you stood every mother, father, and child who were in this country illegally in one place you would have a group one and a half times the size of the City of New York! That's a lot of people here illegally. In fact, it's a huge number. Nearly an unmanageable number when you think about the "sending them home" piece. However, most Americans would argue that a way needs to be found to do it nonetheless. Before a solution is implemented, that number cannot be allowed to increase; the leak has to be stopped. Something we have heard since the 2008 election.

Which leads us to the border with Mexico. At 1,969 miles, it is a vast and difficult terrain. It spans four U.S. states, six Mexican states, and has over twenty commercial railroad crossings. While the area can mostly be fenced effectively, there are parts that might not lend themselves well to fencing, particularly the railroad crossings. Those areas could be patrolled by unmanned drones with Homeland Security and ICE personnel at the ready to respond to breeches, as Newt Gingrich, one of the top-tier republican candidates has suggested. Again, something we have heard over and over again since the 2008 election, yet, little has been accomplished to get it done.

The security fence is not an inexpensive proposition, estimated to cost roughly $4 million a mile. If we were to build 1,900 miles of fence, the cost would be right around $8 billion. While that is a lot of money, it pales in comparison to the loss of life on the border due to the difficulty of the terrain, the heat and lack of life supporting resources along the border (estimates are as high as 2,000 a year), the potential for terrorists to cross, the jobs taken from citizens of the United States by the illegal border crossers, the gang and criminal influence which follows illegal immigration, etc. There is a seldom heard fact, that there are approximately 280,000 illegal crossings of our border by people who are not Mexicans. As a result, most Americans would agree that it is a small price to pay for the elimination of those problems. In fact, with few exceptions every one of the republican candidates for president since the 2008 election has claimed support for the fence. Yet, it remains incomplete. We need a President of the United States who will lead in the political process to get it done.

Once the border is sealed and the leak stopped, the existing illegal population can be dealt with. As was discussed above, the number of illegal immigrants is very large indeed. Some of the best ideas for dealing with this part of the problem come from none other than republican party candidate, Newt Gingrich. As a candidate for President of the United States he has approached these and other issues head on and with great intellect. These problems require serious attention and bold leadership. Now there is Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Team Obama talking about the "fake Texas miracle" and how they are "low paying jobs" or "government jobs" in the OIL AND GAS industry (?!) and they can't make up their minds on whether or not they want to take credit for Texas job creation or bash it or just take the credit away from Perry. Here's some facts for people like the Washington Post. During Rick Perry's time in charge of Texas, HE HAS CREATED ONE MILLION JOBS, 300,000 since the recession began, AND TEXAS IS STILL CREATING JOBS. IN contrast, Barack HUSEIN Obama has LOST A NET 2,500,000 jobs and shrunk the economy to the same size it was in George W BUSH 2007. On George W Bush's last day in office, unemployment was 7.5%, where George W Bush's "retrograde" economic policies averaged 6% unemployment over 8 years. Obama is at a HIGHLY adjusted 9.1% unemployment, has averaged 9.25% unemployment during his socialist reign of terror and his people talk of him being the "only president to have a record of NEGATIVE JOB CREATION." NEARLY 2,000,000 people HAVE CEASED LOOKING FOR WORK AND LEFT THE JOB POOL, which, if including increases in population, MAKE OBAMA UNEMPLOYMENT OVER 13% IF WE WERE USING THE STANDARDS APPLIED SINCE CLINTON AND ENDING WITH W. When OBAMA was elected in November 2008, Bush's unemployment was at 6% and STEADILY INCREASED as businesses learned more and more of what Obama's socialist assault on them would look like. Obama has tried to take credit for the JOBS PERRY HAS CREATED so citing that "most jobs are govt. jobs" IS JUST A LEFTIST SMEAR which has morphed from earlier in the week THE WASHINGTON POST stating that most of the jobs were "low paying minimum wage jobs" differing from last weeks Washington Post statement that most of the jobs were in the "oil and gas industry" to the previous weeks' Washington Post's disingenuous "Obama's record of job creation (sic!)." WHICH IS IT, WASHINGTON POST?! Make up your mind. Why can't Michigan or California or Nevada CREATE GOVT. JOBS OR EVEN THE JOBS YOU DISMISS AS "LOW PAYING MINIMUM WAGE" jobs?! How is it Texas is able TO STILL CREATE absorbing economic migrants from northern, socialist states while those socialist states, like MA and NY, can only stay afloat by shedding people?! Lastly, WHY DOESN'T OBAMA HAVE EVEN NET GOVT.

Anthony John James Mathison Not only that! Let's educate our Mexican-Americans to cherish their Catholic and Hispanic heritage which is, culturally and religiously, AGAINST just about everything Obama stands for.

Any Hispanic (illegal or not) who lives on welfare without a good reason is an AFFRONT to all that La Hispanidad represents. We are a self-sufficient people who changed the world. Obama is trying to enslave us because he (unwittingly perhaps) holds that liberal predjudice against the common man (which so many Hispanics in the US represent).

He is trying to turn all of us Hispanics into SLAVES to the government.

Anthony John James Mathison In Costa Rica, where my mother was born, you can't get government assistance period unless you are a legal citizen AND you have a job. It is considered a dishonor in our culture as Hispanics to seek government help unless there is a serious reason to do so. If we need help, we go first to our FAMILIES and the CHURCH.

Obama would have us abandon our families and Holy Mother Church and become HIS slaves (and the slaves of his wicked ideology).

I for one will not have it, and I educate as many Hispanic about Obama's prejudice as I can.

Sorry, but as a Hispanic I felt I needed to speak up. :)

Michael Emory @Anthony John James Mathison - I am so proud of you for being able to see and understand what the "dimocrats" are trying to do to the Hispanic families. Within just a few years of life as a "dimocratic" welfare slaves the family and social structure of the Hispanic community will be destroyed just like they did with the blacks. What you end up with is a whole group of people with no responsibility for themselves, that are so busy standing in line for a hand-out that they don't have time at first and later just don't give a damm about getting out and being part of a productive society. That pathetic mess should never be allowed to be repeated.

1. Lieberman Warns PA Ready for 'Bloodshed' in September

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has announced he is advocating that Israel sever all ties with the Palestinian Authority.

Lieberman told reporters Sunday that he would ask the "forum of eight" – a subgroup of ministers within the Cabinet – to end Israel's relations with Ramallah.

The foreign minister explained the reason for the move stemmed from the PA's attempt to prosecute IDF officers at the International Criminal Court at The Hague.

"No Finance Ministry officials, not the Water Authority and no Foreign Ministry officials [will maintain ties]," he said. "You cannot have security coordination [with Israel] while you are also trying IDF soldiers at The Hague."

Lieberman said the PA is making preparations to carry out wholesale bloodshed in September. At that time, the PA plans to ask the United Nations to officially recognize it as an independent country, and to grant it membership status within the international body.

The foreign minister said PA officials, despite claims of "non-violent action," are instead preparing to flood checkpoints with tens of thousands of PA Arabs who might then force their way past IDF soldiers and into Israel's major cities.

"The Palestinian Authority is getting ready for bloodshed on a scale we haven't seen," he warned. "The more they speak about non-violent action, the more they are preparing for bloodshed."

                     If the people who live there do not feel
                     they earned the privilege, they will make this
                     known though their actions..

Copter shot down, killing 30 US troops, 7 Afghans

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Insurgents shot down a U.S. military helicopter during fighting in eastern Afghanistan, killing 30 Americans, most of them belonging to the same elite Navy SEALs unit that killed Osama bin Laden, as well as seven Afghan commandos, U.S. officials said Saturday. It was the deadliest single loss for American forces in the decade-old war.

The downing was a stinging blow to the lauded, tight-knit SEAL Team 6, months after its crowning achievement. It was also a heavy setback for the U.S.-led coalition as it begins to draw down thousands of combat troops fighting what has become an increasingly costly and unpopular war.

None of the 22 SEAL personnel killed in the crash were part of the team that killed bin Laden in a May raid in Pakistan, but they belonged to the same unit. Their deployment in the raid in which the helicopter crashed would suggest that the target was a high-ranking insurgent figure.

Special operations forces, including the SEALs and others, have been at the forefront in the stepped up strategy of taking out key insurgent leaders in targeted raids, and they will be relied on even more as regular troops pull out.

The strike is also likely to boost the morale of the Taliban in a key province that controls a strategic approach to the capital Kabul. The Taliban claimed they downed the helicopter with a rocket while it was taking part in a raid on a house where insurgents were gathered in the province of Wardak overnight. Wreckage of the craft was strewn across the crash site, a Taliban spokesman said.

A senior U.S. administration official in Washington said it appeared the craft had been shot down. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the crash is still being investigated.

"Their deaths are a reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices made by the men and women of our military and their families, including all who have served in Afghanistan," President Barack Obama said in a statement, adding that his thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those who perished.

The U.S.-led coalition said in a statement that 30 American service members, a civilian interpreter and seven Afghan commandos were killed when their CH-47 Chinook crashed in the early hours Saturday. A current U.S. official and a former U.S. official said the Americans included 22 SEALs, three Air Force air controllers and a dog handler and his dog. The two spoke on condition of anonymity because military officials were still notifying the families of the dead.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced the number of people killed in the crash and the presence of special operations troops before any other public figure. He also offered his condolences to the American and Afghan troops killed in the crash.

The deaths bring to 365 the number of coalition troops killed this year in Afghanistan and 42 this month.

The overnight raid took place in the Tangi Joy Zarin area of Wardak's Sayd Abad district, about 60 miles (97 kilometers) southwest of Kabul. Forested peaks in the region give the insurgency good cover and the Taliban have continued to use it as a base despite repeated NATO assaults.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said in a statement that the helicopter was involved in an assault on a house where insurgent fighters were gathering. During the battle, the fighters shot down the helicopter with a rocket, he said.

An American official in Brussels said the helicopter was a twin-rotor Chinook, a large troop and cargo transporter.

The casualties are believed to be largest loss of life in the history of SEAL Team Six, officially called the Navy Special Warfare Development Group, or DEVGRU. The team is considered the best of the best among the already elite SEALs, which numbers 3,000 personnel.

NPR and ABC News first reported that those aboard were believed to be Navy SEALs. The AP withheld the report at the request of their sources until they believed the majority of families of those lost had been notified.

The death toll surpasses the previous worst single day loss of life for the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan since the war began in 2001 — the June 28, 2005 downing of a military helicopter in eastern Kunar province.

In that incident, 16 Navy SEALs and Army special operations troops were killed when their craft was shot down while on a mission to rescue four SEALs under attack by the Taliban. Three of the SEALs being rescued were also killed and the fourth wounded.

Afghanistan has more U.S. special operations troops, about 10,000, than any other theater of war. The forces, often joined by Afghan troops, carry out as many as a dozen raids a night and have become one of the most effective weapons in the coalition's arsenal, also conducting surveillance and infiltration.

From April to July this year, special operations raids captured 2,941 insurgents and killed 834, twice as many as those killed or captured in the same three-month period of 2010, according to NATO.

The coalition plans to increase its reliance on special operations missions as it reduces the overall number of combat troops.

Night raids have drawn criticism from human rights activists and infuriated Karzai, who says they anger and alienate the Afghan population. But NATO commanders have said the raids are safer for civilians than relatively imprecise airstrikes.

The loss of so many SEALs at once will have a temporary impact on the tempo of missions they can carry out, but with an ongoing drawdown of special operations forces from Iraq, there will be more in reserve for Afghan missions.

The site of the crash, Tangi, is a particularly dangerous area, the site where many of the attacks that take place in the province are planned, said Wardak's Deputy Gov. Ali Ahmad Khashai. "Even with all of the operations conducted there, the opposition is still active."

The U.S. army had intended to hand over its Combat Outpost Tangi to Afghan National Security Forces in April, but the Afghans never established a permanent base there. "We deemed it not to be stategic and closed it," said coalition spokesman U.S. Army Maj. Jason Waggoner. "The Taliban went in and occupied it because it was vacant."

Western military commanders have been debating moving forces from other areas in Afghanistan to reinforce troops around the capital and in the east, where the Taliban is often aided by al-Qaida and other terrorist groups. Earlier this year, the U.S. military closed smaller outposts in at least two eastern provinces and consolidated its troops onto larger bases because of increased insurgent attacks and infiltration from the Pakistan border.There have been at least 17 coalition and Afghan aircraft crashes in Afghanistan this year.

Most of the crashes were attributed to pilot errors, weather conditions or mechanical failures. However, the coalition has confirmed that at least one CH-47F Chinook helicopter was hit by a rocket propelled grenade on July 25. Two coalition crew members were injured in that attack.
